Whatever Happens...

That was a big freaking win tonight for the Hoosiers.

DJ Will Play?

That's what Kelvin Sampson says, though you can't believe anything that guy tells you.

William Rhoden, Missing The Point

He claims, with what I presume is a straight face, that there is something resembling a silent majority of Indiana basketball fans, alumni and faculty who believe Kelvin Sampson should keep his job:

But if McRobbie hasn’t made up his mind, he should step back, tap into a significant, mostly silent, number of faculty members and Indiana supporters who would like to see Sampson remain as the coach.

And how does he know this? Aside from a smattering of students chanting his name Saturday night, he found one professor on campus who would speak up for the disgraced coach:

One of them is John A. McCluskey Jr., a professor of Afro-American studies at Indiana and an adjunct professor of English. McCluskey arrived at the Bloomington campus in 1977, a year after Indiana went 32-0 and won the national championship. ... “What I would like to see happen is that he stay on, he gets censured one more time, but he’s on that short leash again,” McCluskey said Sunday from Bloomington. “It’s a divided campus here. I think the majority would want him to stay, particularly after last night.”

Yes, Professor McCluskey, that is a brilliant idea: Keep the man who brought "major violations" to a pristine program "on a short leash."

Haven't we gone down this road before with a basketball coach? Anyone remember the "zero-tolerance policy" that Myles Brand slapped on Coach Knight? How well did that work out, professor?

It's good to see Mr. Rhoden has his finger on the pulse of Bloomington from his office on 42nd street.

(Cross-posted at Wrigleyville23, because it is just that laughable.)

Kyle Taber Does NOT Want The Ball

My favorite part of the Kyle Taber Experience seems to come at least once or twice a game lately when Eric Gordon penetrates and kicks it to a wide-open Taber, who then simply cannot get rid of the ball fast enough.

Good times. Good times, indeed.

Things We Now Know About Kelvin

1. He's arrogant. How else could he have telephone-based violations at a squeaky clean university at a time when he was in trouble for telephone-based violations at a less than squeaky clean university? He thinks he's bigger than Indiana basketball. He's wrong.

2. He's selfish. Based on the Wisconsin loss and the abysmal start against Michigan State tonight (which could still turn around), he clearly doesn't care that he's deep-sixing DJ's senior season and EJ's only season in Bloomington. Not to mention the beloved Lance Stemler.

Stay classy, Kelvin.
